Welcome! We’re glad you’re here! We know that visiting a new church can be a little intimidating. After all, each local church community often has its own traditions, rhythms, and routines. Regardless of your background or faith journey, our goal is to make Spencerville a place that is comfortable and welcoming for individuals and families alike!
At Spencerville Church’s Saturday services, you’ll be greeted by people who are genuinely excited to have you worship with us. We aim to create an environment where you’ll feel welcomed, supported, and encouraged from the parking lot to the pew.
Wait, Saturday? Why Saturday?
We gather to worship on Saturday in observance of the Bible’s instruction to “remember the Sabbath (seventh) day and keep it holy.” (Exodus 20:8-11)
At a Saturday service, you’ll find:
- Our 9:00 a.m. worship service lasts about an hour, with the 11:30 a.m. worship service running slightly longer.
- Bible-based, expository preaching from one of our staff pastors or a highly qualified guest speaker.
- Our worship services feature beautiful music from the piano, choirs, orchestra, organ, and, of course, the congregation.
- Age-appropriate programs for your kids during our 10:15 a.m. Sabbath School Bible study hour.
Okay, but how should I dress?
Short answer: it doesn’t matter to us. When you look around our worship services, you’ll see some of everything at Spencerville. Most men prefer to dress in a suit and tie or business casual. Others will be wearing jeans and a polo shirt. You’ll see some women wearing dresses, while others may wear blouses with a skirt or slacks. Kids are often seen in shorts during the warmer months. We want you to be comfortable. Come as you are, and let’s worship together!
Ready for a visit?
Due to a fire at Spencerville Church on August 9, 2024, we are worshiping in our temporary home thanks to the generosity of our brothers and sisters at the Lutheran Church of St. Andrew (LCSA). You’ll find directions to LCSA, just 1-mile South of the Spencerville property in Silver Spring, Maryland, by clicking the button below.
Optionally, let us know you’re coming!
Whether you’re planning a visit to the greater Silver Spring or Washington D.C. area or live locally and would like to try a new church, let us know, and we’ll have a friendly face waiting to greet you!
Our guests tell us that having someone show them around during their first visit can be helpful. We’re happy to have one of our team members show you around. They’ll show you where our classrooms and restrooms can be found. They’re also happy to answer any questions regarding service times, class recommendations, and more!
