A Message to our Community from the Pastoral Team

The Spencerville pastoral team recognizes the concern and anxiety some in our community feel regarding recent immigration policies in the United States. Please know that we love you, we are praying for you, and we are here to walk with you through these uncertain times.

Many are fearful for their friends, family, and even themselves. Let us be clear: It has never been the practice of the Seventh-day Adventist Church—nor of Spencerville Seventh-day Adventist Church—to check anyone’s immigration status as a condition of attendance or membership. Our mission remains unchanged: to welcome all who seek to worship Jesus in spirit and truth.

The North American Division of the Seventh-day Adventist Church has released a statement on this matter. While we do not anticipate enforcement actions at our church or school, we have established a plan based on the Division’s guidelines. This plan ensures we will show respect for Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers or other law enforcement while also protecting the constitutional rights of every person in our church and school.

Fear and misinformation can spread quickly in times like these. Let us commit to being a source of peace, refusing to share anxiety-driven narratives or divisive rhetoric. Regardless of where we stand on current events, our calling is to love, serve, and treat every person with dignity. That is—and will always be—our practice as we fulfill our mission: to know Jesus and make Him known.

We invite you to join us in praying that Spencerville Church remains a place of peace, hope, and unwavering faith in God’s love for all His children.
