Asriel Davis Joins the Spencerville Church Ministry Team

Mr. Asriel Davis
Mr. Asriel Davis

We’re excited to share that Asriel Davis is officially joining our ministry team in a part-time capacity as our dedicated lead organist on July 1. Many of you know Asriel, as he’s served as one of our frequent worship organists over the past two years, adding his steady presence to our worship life. Asriel fills the position that has been empty since Mark Willey’s departure two years ago.

In addition to his primary role as our organist—carrying the principal load of organ and Sabbath morning accompaniment—Asriel will serve as the accompanist for the Spencerville Church choir, and provide music leadership for our 9:00 worship service. Looking ahead to 2027, we also anticipate that Asriel will assist Pastor Erwin with additional duties, such as camp meeting support and leading a week-long music camp designed to help recruit students for Spencerville Adventist Academy.

Mr. Davis will also serve on staff at Spencerville Adventist Academy, where he’ll teach Choir and Physical Education for Middle School, as well as Jazz Band and Music Theory for High School. This shared role represents a meaningful partnership between the church and school, and we are excited for the ways his gifts will bless both our worship ministry and our students.

Asriel holds music degrees from Oakwood University and Syracuse University. He has performed at venues including Carnegie Hall and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, is a published composer and arranger, and was named one of The Diapason 20 Under 30 outstanding young organists in 2023.

Please join us in warmly welcoming Asriel Davis into this expanded role. We look forward to seeing how God will continue to use his gifts to bless our worship, our students, and our church community.

As part of this transition, we also want to express our sincere appreciation for Karen Miranda and the faithful leadership and care she has given First Service since her start during COVID. Karen has served with commitment, care, and excellence, and we are grateful for the way God has used her ministry to bless our church family. Karen remains a valued part of our Spencerville Church community, and we look forward to her continued involvement in the life and ministry of our church.
