Weather Update for Sabbath, January 31

Weather Update for Sabbath, January 31

Dear Church Family,

For the second weekend in a row, the pastoral staff is watching and reading to make sure we have the latest weather information from trusted sources. Please know that we’re unable to make the call for worship on Sabbath until we are closer to the weekend (this page will be updated, along with all the usual communication channels outlined below).

The decision to cancel worship services for inclement weather is always made with two things in mind. First, we care deeply about the safety of our congregation. This will always be our primary goal when the weather may impact our services. Second, we’ve made a commitment to provide a high-quality worship experience, which we believe to be a key element in spiritual growth and discipleship. We strongly believe in the benefits of worshiping together as a community and feel we have a responsibility to offer a worship service. If there’s any way for us to safely hold a worship service, we are committed to doing so.

Where you’ll find the status of the upcoming worship services:

We do our best to push out information as soon as possible. However, you will always find the latest information in four places:

The Church Website

Look for the colored banner at the bottom of our website as we get closer to the weekend. Along with the information in the banner, the color also indicates what’s happening. Green means worship is happening. Yellow means we’re watching the weather and will make a call on Sabbath morning. Red means there’s a cancellation. If it’s canceled or postponed, please be on the lookout for alternate arrangements, either for online worship or for a trimmed schedule (perhaps only the 11:30 a.m. service).

Social Media

We will update our public Facebook page and our Facebook Community Group with the latest information. Look for updates on Instagram and Threads as well.

Weather Email Autoresponder

Sending an email to weather@spencervillechurch.org will trigger an autoresponder reply with the latest information on our worship services. Note that this isn’t an email list, but an automated response. Updates from this email will only be sent when an email is sent to trigger the autoresponder.

An All-Church Email Blast

If the weather is severe and worship is canceled, you’ll hear from us via all of these channels. However, you will also receive an official email from the church advising you of the cancellation from the Weekly Update email address. Please make sure you can receive updates from Spencerville Church by “whitelisting” the spencervillechurch.org domain with your email provider (Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, etc.). If you’re not sure how to do this, here’s a helpful walk-through: How to Whitelist an Email Address.
